What upscaling does

Upscaling enhances an existing creation to a higher resolution and clarity. Open a finished creation and choose Upscale (it may show a New Model label). The default model is now P Image Upscale. Real-ESRGAN models are still available in the same modal if you want a more traditional upscale.

P Image Upscale (default)

P Image Upscale is NightCafe’s newest regular upscaler. It offers integer scales from 2× to 16×, optional Enhance detail and Enhance realism switches, and credit pricing based on the output size. See P Image Upscale on NightCafe for the full walkthrough.

Choosing an upscale model

In the Upscale modal you can switch models:

• P Image Upscale — the default. Best starting point for most images.
• Real-ESRGAN x4+ — general 4× upscaling with quality enhancements; the previous default.
• Real-ESRGAN x4+ Anime — tuned for anime-style images.
• Real-ESRGAN x2+ — 2× upscaling for more moderate needs while preserving detail.
• Real-ESRGAN x4 v3 — a refined x4 model for a wide range of images.
• Real-ESRGAN x4 v3 wdn — like v3 but with extra noise reduction, ideal for noisy or low-quality images.
• Real-ESRGAN Anime v3 — optimised for anime (aimed at video, but works for images too).

Creative Upscale

Creative Upscale is a separate tool (Clarity Upscaler). It increases resolution and generates new details, rather than only enlarging what is already there.
