The Selfie Generator is designed for a narrow but fun purpose: generating realistic portraits. It’s best at realism, so a few tips will help you get the most out of it.

Tips for great results

  • Stick to realistic styles — prompting for anime or cartoon usually won’t work well.
  • Include something like “portrait of a man [subject]” in your prompt (swap “man” for whatever best describes the subject).
  • Prompt for a close-up or head-and-shoulders portrait. The further away the subject, the more likely the face is to be distorted.
  • If you change from the default model, pick one that’s good at realism — we recommend RealVisXL or Juggernaut.
